About us

Focus on the Equine Spine was established in 2005 in the Netherlands with the ambition to provide equine veterinarians and physiotherapists with a high-quality post-graduate education in all aspects of the diagnosis and management of neuromusculoskeletal issues of the equine spine and pelvis.

History

The FES program was designed to cover the gaps between a growing demand for quality treatment of spinal-related problems in horses, the developments in diagnostic imaging, an increase in research and the limited veterinary education in this specific field of interest. Additional motivation on professional and ethical grounds was found in a desire to connect to the advanced professionalism in human manual therapy and interprofessional rehabilitation. The final goal being an increased treatment effectiveness and duration.

A multifactorial approach of equine spinal-related disorders/dysfunction in the diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation traject, including lameness and internal disorders
Multidisciplinary/interprofessional approach, following effective developments in human medicine
Function over pathology
Neurophysiologic, biomechanic and kinemetic analyses in diagnostics, therapy and rehabilitation.
